European Organic

We prioritize consumers' benefit, stand up for farmers' rights, protect the environment and animal welfare.

We are all consumers;
our everyday choices matter!

We have the power to support positive development. Here, under EU organics rules, farmers have to follow stringent standards on farming with minimum chemical usage, emphasize naturalness, and nurture animals in the best condition possible.

Here, Quality is more important
than quantity while maximizing profits and efficiency!

Some aspect of production impacts the final quality of the product significantly. EU takes pride in their standards on every little details, such as the number of animals per square, and the type of feed for animals, ensuring the best living condition to achieve premium product quality.

The EU Organic Label

The organic logo can only be used on products that have been certified as organic by an authorised control agency or body. The logo can only be used on products when they contain at least 95% organic ingredients.

We are Naturland Organic. Together. Worldwide.

Naturland was founded in Germany 1982 by farmers and scientists at a time when organic farming and animal welfare interested only a few. The vision of the founders: “100 percent organic, worldwide!”. We are still actively pursuing this goal.

We are not only an association for organic farming, we offer more. We want to contribute to living together differently. We want to change society together for the better. Because the way we treat each other, the way we farm and produce our food, is crucial for the future of people and nature.

Our Farmers shape the future

There are now about 125,000 farmers in more than 60 different countries who produce food in accordance with our internationally recognised Naturland standards. Outside of Germany, they are mostly incorporated in smallholder cooperatives or producer associations. Around 600,000 hectares of land worldwide are farmed by them. In addition to tea and coffee, we certify bananas, pineapples, cocoa, sugar cane, spices, olives, prawns, salmon and many more. Our quality benchmark is to the highest of standards, which has enabled us to gain the trust of consumers and maintained our integrity.

In Vietnam, we have three producers for shrimp in Mekong Delta.

Naturland is committed to upholding
the holistic principles of sustainable farming, thus making a significant contribution towards protecting people
and the environment.

We know our farms

Naturland is a community of farmers who produce top quality organic
foodstuffs in accordance with stringent standards. We know our farmers
and have a good connection with them.

We prioritize high quality and reliable certification

Our producers and processors commit to adhering to the Naturland
standards at all times. They are regularly inspected (at least once per year)
by independent, government-approved, competent, third-party inspection
bodies. In addition to these pre-announced inspections, they are also subject
to unannounced spot checks based on the perceived risks.

We have the ability to trace back to the producers

Most Naturland farms are open for consumers' visit for transparency. We also
offercustomers a reliable traceability system to find out where, how and
by whom the organic product they have purchased was grown and processed.

“We want Organic Farming to be the standard.
Not the alternative.”

The Naturland certificate represents for:

  1. 01. 95% organic. Naturland has the strictest set of standards.
  2. 02. Trust from Germany. Naturland has achieved this especially throughout
the certification system and detailed standards.
  3. 03. Social responsibility. Naturland was the first organic organisation to introduce social standards (support human rights, children rights and labor rights).
  4. 04. Animal welfare. Our Naturland farmers care deeply about treating the animals in their care responsibly. Animal welfare by species is based on each’s need.
  5. 05. Environmental responsibility. The aim is to identify and implement actions that are individually adapted to each farm and that create real, additional added value for biodiversity. This is how we create more habitats for plants and animals together!
  6. 06. Aquaculture. We certify over a dozen different fish species worldwide.
The Naturland Wild Fish standard focuses primarily on artisan fisheries
and those that set a particularly good example at sea and on internal
    lakes and rivers.
